Redshirt freshman quarterback Anthony Brown is out for the remainder of the season with a right leg injury. Head coach Steve Addazio did not specify the exact injury sustained during Monday's press conference.
Brown went out in the beginning of the second period during Saturday's loss to NC State when his right knee buckled on a cut while scrambling for a first down.
Graduate student Darius Wade, who started for the Eagles last season, will replace Brown at QB, and Addazio mentioned that freshman EJ Perry would also be ready if need be.
Brown concludes his freshman season with 11 touchdowns and 1,367 yards in passing. He was named the ACC Rookie of the Week and was recognized as one of the top eight quarterbacks in the nation following his breakout game against Virginia on Oct. 21.
The Eagles (5-5, 3-4 ACC) have two more regular season games left to clinch a spot in a bowl game: Nov. 18th against UConn at Fenway Park and Nov. 25th at Syracuse.
