It's the mooooooooost wonderful tiiiiiiiime of the yeaaaaarrrr, and there's nothing I love more during christmastime than Christmas music. But instead of numbing my brain with another pop star Christmas album (like those from the biebs or T-swift), I'd rather enjoy easy listening to the classics. Here are some of my favorite traditional holiday tunes:
Band Aid- Do They Know It's Christmas
Is there anything better than a huge group of 80s music heavyweights getting together and making a kick-ass Christmas song? I really can't get enough of this one, and it makes for a awesome sing-along.
I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas- The Drifters
Who can forget this awesome scene from Home Alone when Macaulay Culkin puts the aftershave on and makes the infamous "scream" face? This is my favorite version of this Christmas Classic; The Drifters are just as smooth as the breeze.
Sleigh Ride- Johnny Mathis
I don't know how you can listen to this classic without smiling, or singing along. It doesn't matter what mood I'm in; if I listen to "Sleigh Ride," the Christmas spirit just flows right through me.
White Christmas- Bing Crosby
This song will always remind me of the perfect Christmas morning: waking up to a perfectly snowy morning with just the right amount of sunshine. I'm still waiting for that perfect morning, because perfect snowfall is so rare in the tradition of New York City slush. But I have faith that it'll happen. One day...
The Christmas Song- Nat King Cole
Christmas isn't complete without Nat King Cole, and this is the king of all Christmas songs. It's an essential for any cold wintery night.
All I Want For Christmas Is You- Mariah Carey
Last but not least, the great Mariah Carey with her Christmas karaoke classic. My roommates have been playing this on a loop since we put up our tree. We've attempting to get on MiMi's level, especially with that last note. That one's a killer.
