Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana)
Miley has taken a flying leap from dear, sweet, Hannah Montana, aka Miley Stewart, to the 20-year-old walking scandal that she is today. Love her or hate her, you have to respect a successful de-Disneying when you see one.
Erik von Detten (Brink)
You will remember this flaxen-haired cutie as the soul skater from southern California, but you might also recognize him as the voice of the original troubled teen. Von Detten played Sid, the toy tormenter in both Toy Story and Toy Story 3.
Kimberly J Brown (Quints, Halloweentown)
Better known as Jamie Grover the forgotten older sister from Quints, or Marnie Piper the teen witch from Halloweentown, Miss Brown has definitely departed from the Disney Channel demographic. She is currently playing the role of Shana Taylor, the office manager of a Detroit detective agency in Low Winter Sun, better known as “that show that comes on after Breaking Bad.”
Raven-Symone (The Cosby Show, That’s So Raven)
If you watch [email protected], or if you are old enough to remember the Cosby Show, you knew her as the sassiest little cherub on television. You might have also seen her as Charisse Dolittle in Doctor Dolittle, Nebula Wade in Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century, Monique in Kim Possible, or Galleria, the pink Cheetah Girl. But if none of these ring any bells do not be alarmed because she is most well known for playing a teenage psychic in That’s So Raven. Raven has since stayed with Disney, and recently played the voice of Iridessa in a number of Tinker Bell themed movies (a little less Raven).
Brendan Baker (Johnny Tsunami)
If you did not absolutely fall in love with Brendan as Johnny Tsunami, you should pause now for a moment of self-reflection, and maybe a quick google search.
Now that you’ve repented, and acknowledged Mr. Baker for the adorably rad surfer bro that he is, you can get excited for his new movie The Formula, which is coming out in January of this year. It has something to do with math…
Emmy Rossum (Genius)
Unlike many Disney channel stars, Emmy is more famous today than she was back when she starred in her own DCOM Genius. Remember that super smart kid that defied gravity and played hockey? Known for her role as Fiona Gallagher in Showtime’s Shameless, most people forget that she was a 19-year-old vocal powerhouse, singing alongside Gerard Butler in The Phantom of the Opera.
Lindsay Lohan (Parent Trap, Freaky Friday)
Need I say more?
Shia LaBeouf (Even Stevens)
Disturbia, Transformers, Wall Street, Lawless… He’s definitely made some progress since Even Stevens.
Steven Anthony Lawrence (Even Stevens)
Speaking of Even Stevens… Beans was the loveable bacon-obsessed neighbor, but his career took him in a wildly different direction when he played this guy on an episode of Showtime’s Weeds back in season six. You may need to look at this for more than a minute.
Hilary Duff (Lizzie McGuire)
She peaked with her Come Clean album.
Oh and her DCOM The Lizzie McGuire Movie of course…
Also here she is being a regular person with a family and what not…
