Boy bands #TBT playlist

Valentine’s Day is all about love. Some people have a boyfriend or girlfriend who they have fallen completely head over heels for. Others are perfectly content flying solo and find that the only people they need to love are themselves.

I, on the other hand, have been in love for quite some time now. It’s a burning, passionate love that overwhelms my thoughts and makes my heart ache. This love I have is not for one man alone, but rather for many groups of men.

I am in love with boy bands.

From the moment I had my first taste of majestic man-harmonies, there was no going back. I’m not talking about One Direction or the Jonas Brothers. I mean real boy bands – groups of attractive men singing and dancing with perfectly synchronized moves. It really doesn’t get much better than that. This Valentine’s Day, the  Throwback Thursday playlist features some of the best love songs by the most popular boy bands of the late '90s and early 2000s.

10. “MMMBop” – Hanson

Hanson is one of those boy bands that kind of sounds like they might be a girl band (the long hair is not helping, boys), yet somehow you’re strangely okay with that. What exactly does MMMBop mean? The world may never know, but it sure is catchy.

9. “My Everything” – 98°

Ah, this makes me miss the good old days when Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey had debates about the difference between tuna fish and chicken. Even though their love is long gone, this song is still beautifully romantic and deserves a spot on the list.

8. “Gots ta Be” – B2K

The grammar snob in me is pulling her hair out because of that title, but I’ll let it slide because this is some A+ classic boy band choreography.

7. “I’ll Make Love to You” – Boyz II Men

Just playing this song can produce enough steam to make your windows fog up.

6. “Hey Juliet” – LMNT

You can’t go wrong with a Shakespeare reference.

5. “It Happens Everytime” – Dream Street

When I was 7 years old I thought that pre-teen Jesse McCartney was the most adorable human being in the world. Eleven years later, nothing has changed.

 4. “All or Nothing” – O-Town

Great song. Awful band name.

3. “You Got It (The Right Stuff)” – New Kids on the Block

This video made the straight-legged side-to-side shuffle one of the most famous boy band dance moves of all time. These boys definitely had the “right stuff.”

2. “This I Promise You” - *NSYNC

Nothing says “I love you” like a man singing in a forest full of bubbles.

1. “As Long As You Love Me” – Backstreet Boys

They don’t care who you are, where you’re from, or what you did, as long as you love them. And honestly, how could you not?
