Top 10 Twitter accounts to follow on Election Day

We’ve got a big day ahead of us, ladies and gentlemen. Tomorrow is Nov. 6, a day that will determine the next president of the United States. With all of the anxiety that comes with such a loaded day, it is important to have some comic relief throughout the day. Luckily, we hold in our hands the ultimate provider of said comic relief: Smartphones with Twitter apps.

Here are the top 10 Twitter accounts that you should follow on Election Day to ease the tension.

10. Michael Ian Black, @michaelianblack

You may be surprised to find that the guy in the leopard bathrobe in the relatively lame Expedia commercial is actually a decent comedian.

9. Donald Trump, @realDonaldTrump

He’s infuriated that global warming is not doing its part to save the victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Also, does it count as “we” when you’re tweeting from your 14-karat bedazzled iPhone? (I can only assume).

8. Baratunde Thurston, @baratunde

This former Onion employee recently graced BC with his presence, and the political comedian is not afraid to tell you how he feels about the current election.

7. Sarah Palin, @SarahPalinUSA

Because she’s tight with Todd Akin, and her 16 and pregnant-turned Dancing with the Stars daughter is here to tell you that she’s in favor of the “traditional definition of marriage" that excludes same-sex marriage.

6. Aziz Ansari, @azizansari

AKA Tom Haverford of NBC’s Parks and Recreation. I’m pretty sure he isn’t acting. Treat yo’ self to some Aziz tweets ASAP, and pray they are half as good as his #BetterDebateQuestions.

5. Lindsay Lohan, @lindsaylohan

She was more nervous than either candidate for the final debate.

4. Joe Mande, @JoeMande

He re-tweets like it’s nobody’s business, mostly to point out the ills of humanity.

3. Chelsea Peretti, @ChelseaVPeretti

I want to be you, Chelsea Peretti.

2. Doctor Pug, @DoctorPug

I’m usually not a fan of nonhuman/parody accounts, but I will follow Doctor Pug until the end of time or Twitter, whichever comes first.

1. Rob Delaney, @robdelaney

Rob Delaney has been unofficially titled Mitt Romney’s Twitter nemesis. The Massachusetts native is equal parts politically informed and hilarious. If I had to follow one person and one person only, I would choose Rob Delaney in an instant.

And in case Twitter doesn't do it for you, the Mitt and Rob Tumblr, featuring animations of actual tweets from Rob Delaney to Mitt Romney, will get you through the day. You're welcome.
